(Medicine Hat) Today, the Medicine Hat & District Chamber of Commerce announced its call for nominations for its Board of Directors, with nominations being accepted from Monday, April 1st to Tuesday, April 30th, 2019.
Each spring the Chamber of Commerce holds an election to fill expiring or vacant positions on the Board of Directors, which is comprised of 12 member representatives. Directors serve a two-year term which commences following the Chamber Annual General Meeting in November of each year.
‘We are focused on being the most unified, valued and influential business network in our region and so we are looking for those individuals who are knowledgeable about our community, who are strategic thinkers and who are committed leaders, with a demonstrated ability to work together on our vision, mission and strategic goals,’ stated Sarah MacKenzie, Medicine Hat & District Chamber of Commerce President.
Successful candidates should be prepared to assist the Chamber of Commerce in accomplishing its strategic priorities, be familiar with duties of a director and be willing to contribute to formulating and advocating on behalf of the policies related to the betterment of our business community. The Board is looking for those individuals who are aware of local, provincial and federal issues that affect our business climate and are able to respond to them in a reasonable, professional and discreet manner.
‘Individuals who have previous board knowledge and experience will find value in contributing to an organization like the Chamber and we are seeking out those that have a desire to contribute to moving the organization’s objectives forward’, further stated MacKenzie. ‘We have an open-minded, proactive, results oriented, collaborative, impartial, ethical and respectful team of volunteer Directors and staff who work together to ensure that our members are represented. As such, we are looking for individuals who can continue to build on our strength as an organization and represent our membership on our board.’
To ensure the Chamber maintains a fair and democratic process, the Chamber encourages members to submit potential nominees, which are then elected by the membership. If you or someone you know is interested in working with the Chamber to accomplish the Chamber’s vision and mission, please contact the Chamber at 403.527.5214 for information or download the nomination package online at
